It never ceases to amaze me the degree to which our current federal government, not to mention our current President, seems just hell-bent on alienating American Jews. Do they think that somehow smacking around pro-Israel and pro-Jewish organizations will serve their purposes? Do they suppose that Arabs states, or Muslim states, will like the United States better if the US is nasty to the Jews? (If so, they might consider giving Lee Smith’s The Strong Horse a close read.) Do they think that diaspora Jews have such a case of Stockholm Syndrome that we do not mind being kicked around?

We teach our children to be honest and forthright, to be upstanding and mean what they say, even sometimes using clever idioms to help guide the way. We also understand human beings are prone to moral failures. Hopefully, we are forgiving and supportive to those who fall off the path. But what happens when the some of the most powerful people in America—people who wield serious amounts of influence—are actually willful, two-faced hypocrites? We call ‘em on it.

I was really expecting more passion from Jon Stewart last night when he had former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich on his show. His treatment of this criminal didn’t measure up to how he went gangsta on non-criminals Marc Thiessen, Cliff May, Dick Armey and especially Ken Blackwell and Jim Cramer.

Once upon a time, Fox News political analyst Kirsten Powers had a reputation as a relatively sane, responsible Democrat. Partisan and misleading, yes, but that comes with the territory; at least Powers was less strident and angry than the average leftist—certainly no character assassin.
This image has never been entirely true, but yesterday, Powers demonstrated once and for all that, deep down, she’s as duplicitous as they come. Writing on the Daily Beast, Powers purports to condemn the Republican Party’s “Long, Hot, Racist Summer”:
